Our
November 2nd meeting had its moments of suspense. Our projector didn't
arrive, but Larry Thomas was able to go to his nearby office and bring
his large (and very heavy) monitor so that we were able to see Eddie Young's
presentation. We had a light turnout for the meeting, so using a monitor
instead of a projector wasn't a problem. Eddie showed us many impressive
samples of his work from his early days (1995) of using the computer instead
of using his air brush through the present. He showed how he does his
work by showing different stages of a mermaid illustration he had done.
He explained his creative process and showed how he does his work in Photoshop.
He just got Photoshop 6.0 and is very impressed with its new features,
especially the improvements in its handling of text and styles. He also
really likes the new warp text feature which allows many quick text effects
that were not available in earlier versions of Photoshop without third
party plug-ins. For more on Eddie, go to his web page at http://eddieyoung.com/
