The
October 5th meeting turned out very well although Jack Duganne, owner
of Duganne Ateliers Fine Art Prints in Santa Monica had some problems
in getting to the meeting and didn't arrive until 7:20 pm. He was worth
the wait and the anxiety it caused the group. He gave an extremely informative
talk. Jack was a traditional printmaker by trade when he became involved
with Graham Nash and one of the earliest Iris printers in the early 1990's
that was in the US. He was very interested in the technology and helped
print Graham Nash's black & white photos for exhibit. He explained
how he originated the printmaking term giclée which is an interesting
story in itself. He explained the differences in ink jet printing by Epson
and Hewlett Packard and gave helpful tips about the process. He fielded
the many questions from our interested members and gave well thought answers
that provided a lot of information to the group. He also brought impressive
printed samples of his work on a vast array of different papers. For more
