Our August 1st meeting was extremely beneficial and well attended. There
were two presentations, the first was "9 Simple Steps
from the Digital Camera to the Web" by LBMG leader,
Roger Kroll and the second was on Font Reserve
including a sneak peak of features to be included in their upcoming update,
3.1 by Diamondsoft Customer Support Manager, Mark Cirano.
"Nine
Simple Steps from Digital Camera to the Web!"
Roger
provided a handout as well as described in detail the 9 steps from the
digital camera to the web. The steps enumerated were: 1. Downloading the
photos from the digital camera to the hard drive; 2. Opening the images
in Photoshop 7 (using the new File Browser); 3. Color correcting image
(using Curves); 4. Sharpening image; 5. Cropping the image (using Photoshop
7 presets); 6. Saving image for the web; 7. Drop the folder of images
into iPhoto; 8. Organizing images in album. 9. Uploading images onto .Mac
account. A PDF of the handout is available
upon request.
"Font
Reserve 3.0 by Diamondsoft"
Mark
Cirano, who seldom is in our area, was in Los Angeles because of the opening
of the new Apple Store in the Grove on our meeting night so he was able
to make a presentation to our group. His talk explained why font management
is important and how Font Reserve can be invaluable. He showed the 5 locations
that fonts can be in OS X and told how easy it is to have font conflicts
because of this confusion. Font Reserve has some unique solutions to these
problems and Mark explained how to prevent font conflicts with the aid
of Font Reserve. DiamondSoft very generously donated two copies of Font
Reserve 3.0 to our raffle.
