The
April 5 Long Beach MacGraphics Group meeting featured TypeStyler 3.7.2.
TypeStyler has been an effective program for designing with Type on the
Macintosh since the late 1980's and was recently upgraded to version 3.
Member Larry Thomas was very interested in learning more about TypeStyler
because he uses it on a daily basis in his work. Little did he know that
he would be showing the group plenty of tips on how to use TypeStyler
and some of its best features. Roger Kroll and Larry both showed off the
strengths of TypeStyler. They worked through a project and showed how
to make embossed type with shadows, how to create cast shadows, and how
to import pictures into the letters. TypeStyler comes with 110 fonts,
plenty of templates in Advertising, Apparel Art, Headlines, Logos, Package
Art, Posters & Signs, Type Effects and Web Graphics and good documentation
in PDF format. It can be downloaded as a fully functional 60 tryout version
off their website at http://www.typestyler.com.
The complete program with CD, Fonts, Templates and user guide is $149.95.
They have a download version without the user guide for $119.95 and upgrade
pricing from earlier versions for $89.95.
A big thank you to Scott Kelby of the National Association of Photoshop
Professionals who sent us 30 copies of the current issue of MacDesign
Magazine for our members. There was also a free raffle for MacWorld
and MacAddict issues at the meeting along with an ultra cool OS X T-shirt.
